The Battle Creek Boys "Battle Creek Breakdown" (Battle Creek Boys, 1978) (LP)
(Produced by The Battle Creek Boys & Nick Melnick)
A band from Minneapolis, performing mostly covers, including some Hank Williams, Bob McDill's "Amanda," Paul Siebel's "She Made Me Lose My Blues" and a couple of old Sons Of The Pioneers tunes. The lineup included Stephen P. Kocka (pedal steel), Thomas A. Kocka (lead vocals and bass), James E. Gaboury (lead vocals and guitar), Robert P. Gaboury (guitar, banjo and lead vocals), James R. ("Henk") Henkemeyer (percussion), with Robert Gaboury contributing a pair of original songs, "Country Rockin' Night" and "Battle Creek Breakdown." Not sure what became of the various brothers, but "Henk" Henkemeyer kept playing in locals bands, and later recorded a couple of albums with The SALT CREEK BAND Band, circa 1982-86.
