This is southern rock that's heavier than the usual. The production is very thin, but the guitar playing is quite good and the genre's trademark, dual lead guitars, is in evidence throughout. The long solo on the last song is great, definitely the highlight of a decent but not consistently good album. The real issue here is whether or not you'll like the throaty Molly Hatchet-style vocal growl. I hate it, and it ruins the album for me, but if you're OK with that type of thing this is a pretty good genre piece. [AM] ACID ARCHIVES
